Privacy Policy

What we keep, who can see it, and how to have it changed or deleted. Last updated September 30, 2026.

The short version

  • Magnet Monitor watches MRI magnets and related equipment for the companies that service or run them. Almost everything we store is about machines, not people.
  • About people we keep a username, a scrambled PIN, the company you belong to and your role there — plus the email addresses a company chooses to send alerts to.
  • We use only the cookies the app needs to keep you signed in. No advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t sell or share anything about anyone for marketing.
  • The public demo at /demo shows invented data. No real site, magnet or person appears in it.

Who we are

Magnet Monitor is run by Saw Tech Solutions LLC, a Texas company (“we” and “us”). Questions about this policy go to shawn@sawtechsolutions.com.

We provide Magnet Monitor to business customers. Each customer company decides who gets an account and whose email address receives alerts, and we handle that information on its behalf. If you use Magnet Monitor through your employer, your company’s admin can change or remove most of it directly, and you can always ask us.

What we keep about people

  • Your account: a username, a PIN, your role at each company you belong to (admin, engineer or viewer), and whether you can open the wall display or the runbook. The PIN is stored scrambled (hashed), so nobody, including us, can read it back. You join with an invite code your company gives out, or an admin adds you. We don’t ask for your name, email address or phone number to create an account.
  • Sign-in security: the network (IP) address of each sign-in attempt and whether it succeeded, and a count of failed attempts on each account, so we can slow down anyone guessing PINs.
  • An activity log: changes made in the admin screens and sign-ins are recorded with the username that made them, so a company’s admins can see who changed what.
  • Alert recipients: the email addresses an admin enters to receive alert emails and the morning debrief. The admin screen can also store a phone number for text alerts, but we don’t send text messages today.
  • Alert handling: when someone acknowledges, mutes or flags an alert, we record who did it and when.
  • Phone and browser notifications, if you turn them on: the address your browser gives us for delivering notifications, with your username and a description of the browser and device. It contains no phone number, and you can turn it off on the Account page.

What we keep about companies and equipment

  • The company: its name, the product name and short tagline it shows on its screens, its invite code, and the sender name and reply-to address used on its alert emails.
  • A logo, if the company uploads one. Logos are kept in a public storage bucket, so anyone who has the image’s link can view it. Don’t upload a logo you wouldn’t show publicly.
  • Each monitored unit: its name, site name and address, the alert rules and thresholds set for it, and the connection details our collector needs to reach the on-site equipment.
  • Readings: a small computer (a Raspberry Pi) installed at the site reads the magnet’s monitor — helium level and pressure, cooling water flow and temperature, shield and cold head temperatures — or, for other equipment, room temperature, humidity and backup-power status, and sends those readings to us. We also record whether the collector and the site’s cellular router are online.
  • Wall displays: each display link an admin creates, its label, who created it and when a screen last used it.

Emails and links

  • Alert emails go to the company’s alert recipients when a unit needs attention. Each one carries a link, made for that recipient, to acknowledge or mute the alert without signing in. Opening the link changes nothing; pressing one of its buttons records the choice along with the recipient’s email address. Each link works once and expires after 7 days.
  • The morning debrief is a summary of the previous night, emailed each morning to recipients an admin has marked for it.
  • We don’t send marketing email.

Who can see it

  • Members of a company see that company’s units, readings and alerts, and never another company’s.
  • A company’s admins also see its users, alert recipients, activity log and wall displays, and can change them.
  • A paired wall display shows one company’s fleet status and nothing else, and stops working when an admin revokes it.
  • The people who run Magnet Monitor can see everything, to keep it working, install and repair collectors, and answer support requests.

Cookies and storage on your device

We use only essential cookies. Both are “httpOnly”, so scripts on the page can’t read them:

  • A sign-in cookie. It holds a random session key. If you choose “Keep me signed in” it lasts until the session expires; otherwise it’s cleared when you close the browser. Signing out ends the session.
  • A wall-display cookie, only on a screen that has been paired as a wall display. It lasts a year, and an admin can revoke it at any time.

The app also keeps a few things in your browser’s own storage so it can draw the screen quickly: your username, role and your company’s branding (never your PIN or session key), and preferences such as cards versus table and whether the wall display plays its alarm sound. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

Services we use

  • Supabase stores the app’s data and company logos. Vercel hosts the website.
  • Vercel Web Analytics counts page visits, with the page, referring site, country and kind of device. It sets no cookies and doesn’t identify who you are.
  • Resend delivers alert and debrief emails, so it sees the recipient’s address and the email’s contents.
  • Apple, Google, Mozilla or Microsoft deliver phone and browser notifications, if you turn them on, depending on your browser.
  • Tailscale provides the private network we use to reach on-site collectors, and tells us whether each one is online. InHand Networks reports whether a site’s cellular router is online.
  • The U.S. Census Bureau geocoder turns a site’s address into map coordinates, and the National Weather Service provides local weather for those coordinates. Neither receives anything about people.
  • Google Fonts serves the app’s typefaces, so your browser contacts Google when a page loads.

Keeping and deleting information

We keep a company’s information while it uses Magnet Monitor. Admins can remove users, alert recipients, wall displays and units themselves, and deleting a unit deletes its readings with it. If a company stops using the service, or you want something about you corrected or deleted, email shawn@sawtechsolutions.com and we’ll take care of it.

Security

PINs and session keys are stored only in scrambled form, repeated wrong PINs lock an account for a while, every connection is encrypted (HTTPS), and each company’s data is filtered to that company on our servers, not just hidden in the browser. No system is perfectly secure; if you think something is wrong, tell us at shawn@sawtechsolutions.com.

Children

Magnet Monitor is a tool for businesses and isn’t meant for children.

Changes

If we change what we keep, who can see it or which services we use, we’ll update this page and the date at the top first.
